Should the media devote so much time to sports?

The evening news usually has a section devoted to sports. newspapers have sections devoted to sports. There are special sport have hour shows on the news channels such as BBC and CNN. Why? Sports are for the most part male dominated. Should’nt the news media give equal time to women’s activities?

A lot of people care about sports, and interest is far less male-only than you might think. Depending on the sport, more women follow some activities than males (gymnastics, figure skating, etc.)
